A basic physics law which we learnt in our school days, but have failed to understand it completely.
We, humans, have a limited amount of energy every day but we have never given it a thought to sit back and evaluate how we are dispersing our energy.
As we perform an activity, a part of our energy is consumed by that activity.
But the harsh truth, today, is that we are wasting our energy on utter non-sensical activities. We focus on activities that yield no returns.
People spend hours and hours, wasting time on social media, mindlessly scrolling. Think about the energy that has been drained. Our attention span is at an all-time low. We can’t finish a task without fidgeting with our phone. We succumb to the distractions, again and again, all we are doing are, practising distractions and we are ridiculously becoming good at it.
I bet, that, if tomorrow they come with another app, which will satisfy your self-esteem quickly and serve you with instant gratification, you’ll be hooked to that too.
Energy is sacred.
Go out, perform some physical activity. Spend your energy in reading, writing, etc.
Use your energy to do something, that’ll level up your life. You’ve had always lacked the energy or time to do the things that you like. Eliminate the unproductive stuff. Find out your passion and harness your energy into it.
As electricity is transferred to a bulb, to produce light. Likewise, use that concept to your benefit and use your inner energy to brighten up your life.
Treat energy as money. You need to know where you are dividing your energy.
Plan your day well in advance. Making a to-do list every day is a great habit. What’s important, however, is to religiously follow whatever you write on the list and at the end of the day, you put a tick mark against the tasks you accomplished. Rest compounding will take of itself.
Don’t go with the flow, be the flow.
A growth hack: Wake up early in the morning and make the most of it. In the morning, your energy is at its optimal peak, and distractions are minimal.
Prioritize wisely. The important tasks should be done first thing in the morning. Delay your gratification. Don’t use your cell phone before midday. Believe me, you’ll not miss out on anything important. By the end of the day, you become exhausted and can’t give your best to the work at hand.
Keep a track on your activities. People keep wasting time with their friends talking about sports, video-games, series or the latest movies. It’s a sheer waste of time. Sometimes, it’s fine, but, if it’s done on a regular basis, it is just taking your energy down the drain and improving your knowledge on absolutely stupid stuff. Have qualitative discussions with your friends- conversations that will evolve you.
Preservation of energy is imperative. That is when listening comes into play. Learn to speak less, it’ll serve you a great deal. When you talk non-stop, it not only wastes your energy but also makes you look like an idiot. Only speak when required.
Meditation is a powerful tool that helps you strengthen your mind and harness your energy. Learn to control your mind, it’ll help you transform your energy.
The very first thing the Monks in the monastery are to control their mind and focus. Positive affirmations with visualization will shape up your mindset.
Energy invested in the wrong things is like taking a step backwards in life. Don’t let your friends waste your energy. Remember, your friends play a big role in your life. If you are wasting time with losers, you are just losing your energy. Spend time with people who share your vision.
Also, don’t waste your energy on emotions. I see people getting angry on minute details, which disrupts their mental peace for some time.
Good sleep is very important to recharge your mind. Your mind is your biggest asset. Quality sleep will render your mind sufficient time to relax.
Whatever you do is also the kind of energy you attract. Direct your energy in the right direction, immerse yourself completely in whatever you are doing.
The real essence of work is concentrated energy.
Every moment distracted is a waste of energy. Wise people have a set of routine. Use your energy and unleash your potential.
