Porn ruined many millennials minds. If you are one of those people who think that watching porn is normal, you are among the masses. It’s not much of your fault, it is because of the people you are surrounded with. The Porn industry is 12-14 billion dollars’ worth in the  US alone. I was shocked to read such staggering numbers.  It only concludes one thing that people support fake sex and also are willing to pay money for it.

The industry will continue to grow as more people succumb to screen sex, without having a clue as to why porn is bad for them. Bad is underrated here. I would say horrible for them.

Fake sex – Watching that girl being banged, while you sit on your bed jerk off to it. What does this imply? You get the feeling that you are performing the act. But in reality, you are just wetting the bed, wasting your time and energy. Don’t confuse reality with porn. That feel-good emotion is great. But the truth is you are just a person who is clinging onto a screen.

Mindset- Porn screws up your mind. Biologically our brains are hardwired to produce babies, because of our survival instincts from the stone age. But our brain did not evolve for porn.

Porn is so stimulating to our mind because of its quick and easily accessible. You see a woman and wants to fuck her. This is how porn manipulates you. Your brain thinks of that lifestyle as a new normal. You start to think of sex during the day, which in turn impinges your attention.

Another important thing is that stop considering porn as a stressbuster or a form of relaxation. Stressbusters do not alter your mind.

Ruins Relationships- Porn is a major contributor to relationship crises. It’s because of the novelty issue. With a few clicks, you have various chicks available, which steals away your boredom. You get tired of a person; you change the category or the actor. And the new face brings cravings and excitement. This is the Coolidge Effect. As humans, we get mundane by the same thing again and again, but when it comes to porn, you have so much variety available that you are never short of options. Your brain which is now conquered by porn begins to behave similarly in the actual world. Your brain is like I am exhausted of this person, now I need a new mate. Subconsciously your mind is being re-programmed for novelty. Porn murders the spice of the relationships.

You expect your partner to do things that you have seen in the video, which makes no sense at all. You raise unrealistic expectations.

Decades ago, people could hardly see a naked woman. Now you easily get to see them on the web or social media.

Your one session of porn has more partners than people have partners in their lifetime.

Drive- Too much pleasure kills the drive. When you have bombarded your brain with too much sex, you don’t have any motivation left to go out and talk to other women. Porn robs you of the desire. In the real world, you are turning fragile and probably are still lack the courage to talk to other women. You don’t feel the need to work on yourself because all you need is the internet, a device and an undisturbed solitude time.

Your reward inducing dopamine does not differentiate between an actual woman or a porn woman. That is why porn is a hit. Every time you watch it, dopamine is released. And your mind wants it immediately, that is why you become lazy and do not want to fight into the real world.

How to get rid of porn?

There is no magic pill to it In fact, there is no magic pill for anything. You have to take the plunge. You have to force it upon yourself. Get serious with your decision and you shall implement it.

Here are a few tips-

Avoid boredom- Boredom paves way for all the junk habits, be it porn, masturbation or unhealthy snacking. Keep yourself occupied all the time. Whatever free time you get, use it to your advantage on skill enhancement, reading etc. Do the things you always wanted to do.

Eliminate the urges- You will have urges to view porn. Find the cause of those urges. And next time steer clears of those urges.

Ex- You are browsing through your social media, and stumble upon a hot model or an erotic image, which turns you on and want to enjoy porn. Now, you have recognized the urge. Get rid of it. Delete social media. I have been recommending you delete your social media account since the inception of this blog.

Don’t succumb to cravings- This one is obvious. Don’t fall for

“5 minutes is ok.”

“ I have had a bad day, let me relax a bit by peeking a bit at porn.”

“I have been good for a week, now I can reward myself.”

These are just tricks, that your mind is playing to achieve dopamine. Leverage the momentum of abstaining. Keep moving in the right direction.
